Introduction. Nuts Planet are a relatively new company from South Korea producing what is certainly an interesting and absorbing range of products. Part of that range includes 3D designed and printed figures from a sub branch of the company called Trigger whose team specialize in fantasy and gaming subjects, one of which I shall be reviewing today. The ethos from the company certainly makes for positive and encouraging reading where they aim to bring back fun and enthusiasm for modellers and painters of miniatures. Setting their sights on growing gradually but solidly they seek to constructively communicate with us offering unique and diverse products, not just miniatures. Putting convention to one side they began with what is known as the SD (Super Deformed) range, we might know these better as the rather awesome caricature range that won gold and silver at Euro Militaire in 2013. They have moved on from those very early days and now have a number of different ranges that offers something for just about every taste. First Impressions. Immediate impact is evident in the branding and packaging. While clearly some people will find this totally irrelevant, for me it definitely forms a huge part of the attraction and fun. Let’s face it, it’s a big part on which Nuts Planet has been founded. Even the name appeals to my taste and the logo certainly looks the part with its retro theme.
The packaging is not only attractive it’s also highly practical. This piece arrived in pristine condition packed in a very sturdy and substantial box. The lid and one of the sides carries some beautiful full colour artwork of the assembled and painted figure while the remaining sides carry the company logo and website details.
On opening the box four of the individual resin pieces (arms, head and leg) are enclosed within a clear plastic re-sealable bag, this bag is sandwiched between two pieces of thick foam offering superb protection against potential damage.
The remaining two resin pieces (main body and display base) are left loose but are again very adequately protected being layered between even more thick foam padding.
Hats off to the guys who developed the branding and packaging then, a very conclusive 10/10 with stars for this side of the operation, let’s take a look at the figure itself and see if this quality carries through…….. The Figure. There are six pieces of light grey coloured resin that complete the figure, this includes the separate display base. The casting is first class, the only clean up required will be the removal of small casting lugs from each piece and the subsequent cleaning of those areas. The resin is of a nice consistency to work with being neither to soft or brittle. Head. On first inspection I thought to myself the features appeared kind of soft, then I realized that in fact this is probably very deliberate in so much as this figure has the sort of appearance you would perhaps expect of the anime cartoon characters that are so hugely popular right now. The softness actually really works here and in no way deflects from the impressive quality and features.
The hair in particular has a wonderfully soft but equally well defined appearance and we can see from the fabulous artwork just how beautifully this can be depicted. There is a casting lug on top of the head that will need removing but with careful consideration and delicate clean up this will prove easy enough to deal with.
The face is fantastic, again soft but in a very positive way. If the features here were sharp and stark it would in my opinion defeat the object completely in this case. The nose, mouth and eyes look fantastic with lovely structure and definition, only the right ear is partially showing but again this look great.
Main body and right leg. I have posed the figure with the separate right leg temporarily attached purely for photographic purposes. Heavily strewn with awesome detail the body looks fantastic in every aspect. The pose is animated with a laid back appearance and works well for a number of scenarios.
The top half has plenty of flesh on show to enable you to fine tune you flesh painting skills as the figure is sculpted wearing just a skimpy vest type top. The vest top is well defined as is the young ladies ample ‘assets’ The creased and ruffled look of the vest material looks very convincing.
Moving onto the bottom half and this is where there is an abundance of glorious detail to be seen. Cargo trousers look fantastic with great depth of detail in all the right places such as the wealth of pockets, fly area and again creases and ruffled appearance.
The equipment carried on the moulded on utility belt is also nicely done, holster, radio, ammo pouches, utility hoops and leg strapping is all included adding heaps of interest and definition. Finally the boots and yet more fab detail with the laces soles and heel showing through a treat.
Left and right arms. The quality seen in the previous parts carries on here. Below we see the right arm and how well detailed it is with the added bandage wrapped around the upper arm and hand, nice wrist watch and of course the fabulous pistol. Finger details show up a treat and are very convincing in appearance.
The left arm shown below is posed at the side of the body. The hand wears a fingerless glove with padding and looks brilliant. Again the finger details are really very good indeed.
Display base. This has been very nicely produced. Being on two levels adds interest and the detail is certainly very nice. This will look awesome painted and weathered and of course you can easily add more to it creating your own unique finish.

Synopsis. New, fresh, exciting and full of life is how I would describe Nuts Planet and you know what…….. I really, really like what they are setting out to achieve and the products they are releasing. They have hit the scene running with many successes winning gold’s, silvers and bronze medals at a number of prestigious shows, I think there is a lasting and bright future ahead for them. The Overwatcher figure reviewed today reinforces the ability of the company to produce exciting and fun pieces that offer top quality finish with value for money, I am excited and thrilled to give a highly recommended award for today’s review figure. Fantasy is a competitive and difficult market to break into with many companies already having a stronghold, however I think Nuts Planet bring to the table something more than capable of holding its own and competing with the best of them. Congratulations to the entire team. My sincere thanks to Nuts Planet for this review sample and the opportunity offered.
