[Open-box Review] Roman Aquilifer by Iguazzu Artstudio
There’s a long time since I wrote my last miniature review on the blog, and as I was somewhat busy finishing new works to Monte San Savino, I thought it’s a good time to write one of these post . So I will take to show you the last figure I have received.
This is the first figure of a new Korean brand of figures, NutsPlanet ( although they’ve three references in its catalog) . A brand that has decided to distance himself from all others in a market where competition is very big and high quality , offering historical figures of humor. We had seen some similar products in the past, trying to play with the caricature and humor … but the quality was really bad . However, the modeling work that offered us NutsPlanet are really good. Go to see it!
The figure comes in a sturdy cardboard box , with boxart reference picture and the names of both the sculptor and the painter . This fact seems very important and necessary … and unfortunately most brands do not usually do. The sculptor is Jun- Sik Ahn and the painter is Myeong -Ha Hwang ( a great person who I had the pleasure of meeting in Folkestone )
When we opened the box we find a first arrangement of the piece, smaller stuffed in bags to not lost. We can also see a small rod and a card with the artistic design of the figure. A really fun detail. The kit consists of about 17 pieces, some of them very small, so be careful if you do not want to lose any.
On the second floor are the larger pieces. From the pictures we can think of that’s a really great piece, but it isn’t. In these photos you can see the size comparisons on my hand. It is a figure which measures almost 54mm. The finish of the sculpture and resin copy is really impressive. We won’t find mold lines, bubbles or other defects that can occur in many copies of this material. Which is welcome!
In short, a quality piece with a surprising and spectacular modeling, though a caricature. And that promises hours of fun for your painting. I hope to share my version soon!
